Mapleton Real Estate

Mapleton, Utah was originally settled in the 1850’s and was originally an agricultural extension of Springville. Previously known as Union Bench, it was renamed Mapleton because of the maple trees in the area. Due to a variety of legal issues surrounding water rights, Mapleton separated from the city of Springville in 1901. In 1948, Mapleton was finally incorporated as a city.

The city remains more rural than surrounding cities due to its distance from the I-15 corridor. It is about 50 miles south of Salt Lake City and is located between Hobble Creek Canyon and Spanish Fork Canyon. The city has seen slow growth over the last decade with a few new subdivisions being built, but much of the city retains its rural, small town feel.

Things to do

Mapleton City Park – The main city park is a favorite spot for locals. It has 2 tennis courts, 2 baseball diamonds, several pavilions, a gazebo, a volleyball pit, and a large playground. During the summer, you’ll also find the concert in the park series. It’s the best place in town to find community events!

Whiting Campground – Located 3 miles up Maple Canyon, Whiting Campground is a popular place for residents from all over the state. There are individual campsites, group sites, plenty of hiking trails, biking, and picnicking. This gorgeous canyon is home to groves of maple and cottonwood trees and there is a beautiful perennial creek that runs along the campground. It’s the perfect outing for families in love with the outdoors.
